  • Shipping delays due to the war around the Red Sea

    20/03/2025

As of this article, due to political friction and the ongoing wars in proximity to the Red Sea, cargo ships from China to Malta shall take another shipping route for safety. Shipping lines affected include but are not limited to CMA CGM, COSCO, and OOCL.

The new route will have ships travel around the continent of Africa via 'Cape of Good Hope' to reach Europe and Malta. Delays and longer delivery time to shipping are to be expected. For businesses or individuals, we recommend adjusting inventory and schedule plans to adjust to the delays. If you have a sea freight ordered with us or looking to order one and would like to know how this development would affect you, contact us and we shall provide the necessary details. Otherwise, ordering cargo delivery by air from China to Malta is available and isn't affected.

Currently, due to the instability of the region around the Red Sea, there's no reliable or accurate estimate as to when ships will return to using the Red Sea to reach Europe, as shipping lines require the region to have an extended period of certain security

The situation will be closely monitored, shall the situation improve, this article will be annotated so.

  • China and USA officials to engage in trade discussions in Switzerland

    07/05/2025

Following current American president Donald Trump's intensification on tariffs, US and Chinese officials plan to engage in an official and public trade talk in Switzerland regarding president Trump's trade war escalation the following Saturday and Sunday.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer will respresent America and Vice Premier He Lifeng of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs will represent China in the upcoming trade discussions.

Bessent, has stated that "We will agree what we're going to talk about. My sense is that this will be about de-escalation, not about the big trade deal," and "We've got to de-escalate before we can move forward,"

These talks follow after Trump imposed a 145% tariff rate on all goods from China, with some provinces recieving additional rates on top of the country-wide tariff. In retaliation, Beijing enacted a 125% tariff on American goods to China along with additional measures regarding American goods.

"This isn't sustainable" says Bessent as he states that the tariff rates that the two countries enacted on eachother is the equivalent of an embargo.
